Summary dissolution requires completing and filing specific forms, including a joint petition for summary dissolution. If the requirements are met and all paperwork is in order, the divorce can be finalized without a court appearance, typically taking about six months from the filing date. This process offers a less adversarial and more efficient option for couples seeking an uncontested divorce.

Ending a Domestic Partnership in California

While same-sex marriage has been legal for years, some couples are still registered as domestic partners or seek to establish such a partnership. Ending a domestic partnership involves many of the same legal processes and considerations as terminating a marriage.
